He came at a time when UAE were in a troublesome situation. He and Khurram Khan posted 47 runs for the fifth wicket bringing some momentum to the innings. But, it was the 107-run seventh wicket stand that really made the difference, as from 131 for 6 in 34.2 overs, UAE came to 237 in 46.1 overs. Anwar scored 106 off just 83 balls, with Amjad making 42 off 35. The duo provided the required impetus as UAE scored 78 runs in the last 8 overs to take their score to 278 for 9.
