In the ICC Cricket World Cup, chasing England's 303 for 8, Scotland were 44 for 1 in 9 overs in a Group-A game at Christchurch, when reports last came in.AIR correspondent reports that the highlight of the English innings was Moeen Ali's maiden World Cup century.Entering the Hagley Oval with defeats in both the games played in this World Cup so far, England were sent in to bat under overcast conditions. The decision to bowl first backfired badly for Scotland, as English openers Moeen Ali and Ian Bell shared 172 runs for the first wicket, scoring at a great pace. Moeen, who amassed his second ODI ton, was the real architect in the build up.Off just 107 balls, he made 128, his highest individual score. Bell made 54. The English, however, lost way after the wickets of their openers, as they slid from 201 for 2 to 252 for 5. Ian Morgan's end-of-innings 46 and Jos Buttler's 24 helped England gain some momentum, and post 303, the score which could have easily crossed the 350-mark.
