ICC Cricket WC: Pakistan beat Ireland & West Indies defeat UAE

In the ICC Cricket World Cup, Pakistan defeated Ireland by 7 wickets in their final Pool-B game at Adelaide on Sunday to advance to the quarterfinals. The West Indies, who beat UAE by 6 wickets earlier on Sunday morning, also progressed to the knock-out stage as they had a better net run-rate than Ireland.So, all the quarterfinal fixtures of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 have been decided. Both Pakistan and West Indies recorded comprehensive victories in their final Group matches on Sunday to ensure a place in the last-8 stage. In the first game of the day, West Indies Skipper Jason Holder's 4 wickets helped the Caribbeans bundle out Ireland for 175. They, then, chased down the target with 117 balls to spare and 6 wickets in hand. In the other game, Pakistan first restricted Ireland to 237, and then overhauled the target in the 47th over.Opener Sarfraz Ahmed's unbeaten 101 was the main highlight of the run-chase. Now, all eyes are on the knock-out stage which begins on Wednesday. South Africa will clash with Sri Lanka on that day, with the victors taking on the winners of the Saturday's game between West Indies and New Zealand in the semi-finals. The India-Bangladesh quarterfinal is slated for Thursday. If India wins, it will either play Pakistan or Australia in the final-4 stage. The Australia-Pakistan match is scheduled for Friday.
