ICC Champions Trophy: Sri Lanka beat India by seven wickets

In a shocking upset at ICC Champions Trophy Sri Lanka beat defending champions India by seven wickets in a Group B match at the Oval in London last night. Chasing a target of of 322, Sri Lanka eased past India with loss of only 3 wickets and 8 balls to spare. Man of the match Kusal Mendis's 89 and Danushka Gunathilaka's 76 laid the the foundation for Sri Lanka's victory. Earlier sent in to bat, India piled up a challenging 321 for 6 in stipulated 50 overs with a ton by opener Shikhar Dhawan and contributions from MS Dhoni's 63 not out and Rohit Sharma's 78. The biggest upset of this tournament has made the group B matches as virtual quarterfinals for all four teams – India, Pakistan, South Africa and Sri Lanka. To qualify for the semifinals, India now must beat South Africa on Sunday in their last group game. Today, New Zealand will take on Bangladesh in a group A match at Sophia Gardens in Cardiff at 3 pm Indian time.
