ICC Board calls for balanced playing calendar

The International Cricket Council (ICC) Board has called for a balanced playing calendar to promote the interests of the cricketers and the different formats of the game.At its three day long meeting in Dubai, the board decided to give a boost to domestic T20 leagues. It has also called to counter the growing threat of online piracy and violation of intellectual property rights.AIR West Asia Correspondent reports, the ICC Board recognized the importance of domestic T20 leagues and said it will strive to match them with the international level matches.The ICC Chief Executive, David Richardson told that the domestic Twenty20 leagues have provided opportunities for players and entertained the crowds as well. He emphasized the need to chalk out a balanced playing calendar to promote different formats of the game.The ICC Board agreed to evolve an updated strategy to counter the online piracy and violation of Intellectual property rights. The online piracy refers to the illegal and unauthorized streaming of broadcast footage over the internet. Board will also counter the digital ambush marketing techniques related to the unauthorized use of the online trade mark, mobile applications or SMS activations etc.The three day meeting in Dubai was attended by the the ICC President Allan Issac, Vice President Kamal Mustafa and the Chief Executive David Richardson in addition to the 10 full members and three Associate members. India was represented by the BCCI President N.Srinivasan at the meeting.
