ICC announces prize money of $2 mn for winners of upcoming ICC Champions Trophy tournament<br/>

The International Cricket Council (ICC) today announced a prize money of 2 million US Dollars for the winners of the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy tournament. The event starts in the United Kingdom on the 6th of June. The runners-up will be richer by 1 million US dollars. In what will be the last edition of the tournament, Australia, New Zealand, Sri Lanka and hosts England are clubbed in group A, while group B has India, Pakistan, South Africa and West Indies. India will lock horns with South Africa in the opening match of the tournament in Cardiff on June 6. The three venues for the tournament are Cardiff, Edgbaston and the Oval. The total prize money of the 50-over event is worth Four million US dollars and even the losing semi-finalists will get 400,000 US dollars each. The ICC will be paying One Lakh Dollars to the two third-placed teams in each group.
