Ibobi Singh sworn-in as Manipur CM

In Manipur, the Congress leader Mr Okram Ibobi Singh was today sworn-in as Chief Minister of the state for the third consecutive term. The State Governor, Mr Gurbachan Jagat, administered the oath of office and secrecy to Mr Ibobi Singh at a ceremony held at Raj Bhavan in Imphal today afternoon.

AIR Imphal Correspondent reports, In today’s swearing-in ceremony, no other minister was sworn-in other than Mr. Ibobi Singh. However, the Chief Minister said that he will expand his ministry after consultations with the Party High command before the budget session of the state assembly which is likely to begin from the 19th of this month. The soft-spoken 63-year old Ibobi Singh who steered the Congress to a third consecutive term in the assembly elections is credited with bringing political stability to the state where very few Chief Ministers could complete full terms. The Chief Minister said that he will try his best to usher in all round development in the state and address the problems of power, water supply and insurgency.
