Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting, Colonel Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore today said, the ministry has always respected the board's decisions and has never tried to interfere. He added that final call on the film Messenger of God will be taken by the Film Certification Appellate Tribunal and the ministry respects the whole process of film certification.
Talking to reporters in New Delhi Mr. Rathore said, the ministry has not received any resignation letter by the Censor Board's Chairperson Leela Samson. The minister was responding to media reports that she has resigned from her post. Her resignation came amidst media reports that Dera Sachcha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh's film Messenger of God has been given clearance by Film Certification Appellate Tribunal.
He also added, the entire censor board was placed by the previous government. None of the members of the board have been changed and no additional member has been put in. He said that the extension of the members that the chairperson is talking of has been granted to the entire censor board.
