With the deadline for the second phase of digitisation involving 38 cities having expired, the Information and Broadcasting Ministry will chart out the future roadmap in a meeting on 5th of this month.Sources said that while plans for phase III and IV have to be worked out, the Ministry would also continue tomonitor the situation in cities where the installation of settop boxes (STBs) is still not satisfactory.It is learnt that while seven cities have shown 100 percent seeding of STBs and another 16 above 75 per cent, there are nearly a dozen other cities where the figure is not as per desired levels.Cities in Gujarat and Bangalore had got an extension ofthe deadline following court orders.Following implementation of the second phase of digitisation, the I&B Ministry would now focus on the thirdphase.This phase has to be implemented in all otherurban areas (municipal corporations/ municipalities) exceptcities or towns or areas included in Phase I and II, bySeptember 30 next year.Under Phase IV, the digitisation process will cover the rest of the country by the end of next year.
