The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has decided to modify the 30th of June deadline for a complete switch over of the existing analogue Cable TV networks to Digital Addressable System to 31st October 2012 for all four Metros- Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata. An official statement issued in New Delhi says the installation of Set Top Boxes has not picked up necessary pace for the completion of the process of digital- i – zation by 30th June, 2012. The Cable Television Networks (Regulation) Amendment Act, 2011 has made it mandatory for switchover of the existing analogue Cable TV networks to Digital Addressable System by December 2014, in a phased manner.
