The Information and Broadcasting Ministry says task of digitalization of cable Television services in the entire country will be completed by December 2014. In an interview to All India Radio, the Information and Broadcasting Secretary, Mr Uday Kumar Verma said, from 1st of January 2015 onwards, the cable TV services will be avialable through digital addressable system across the country. Mr Verma said that the digitalization will help improve the picture quality and cosumers will have choice to select their own channels on TV network.

Mr Verma said that the decision to extend the the plan for digitization in four metros to 31st of October 2012 was due to delay in finalisation of TRAI regulation in this regard and installing of Set -Top Boxes which will take time.
