I&B Ministry completed E-auction of FM radio channels transparently: Venkaiah Naidu

Information and Broadcasting Minister M Venkaiah Naidu has said that the focus of his Ministry has been to streamline processes and promote transparency and accountability in its functioning. <br/><br/>Chairing the Parliamentary Consultative Committee meeting of the Ministry in New Delhi today, Mr Naidu said, the Ministry has successfully and transparently completed E-auction of FM radio channels. He said, private FM radio has been permitted to broadcast All India Radio News for listeners to get credible information apart from entertainment. According to an official release, AIR News will be available to the private FM radio at no cost. <br/><br/>He said, All India Radio has completed the FMisation of entire Vividh Bharati network. Mr Naidu also mentioned about the digital media and new print media advertisement policy that was framed recently to promote transparency and accountability in issuing of advertisements.<br/><br/>Mr Naidu said, to harness the country's soft power in film sector, the Ministry has set up a film facilitation Office to promote and facilitate film shootings by foreign film makers in India. The Minister said, his Ministry would also consider the possibility of publishing employment news in regional languages. Mr Naidu also referred to the possibility of publication division approaching stakeholders as part of corporate social responsibility to sponsor books for schools and libraries across the country.<br/><br/>Members of the committee appreciated initiatives of publication division saying that the efforts need to be taken to enhance the visibility of the rich and diverse collection of books. They also stressed for appropriate promotional and marketing strategies and efforts to reach the young generation.
