I&B Ministry bags award on National Hindi Diwas

Ministry of Information and Broadcasting is among 57 institutions and individuals who bagged award on National Hindi Diwas on Wednesday. The awards were conferred at an impressive function by the President Mrs. Pratibha Devisingh Patil at Vigyan Bhavan today. The first prize was bagged by Labour Ministry, second prize by Law Ministry and third prize by Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.

Speaking on the occasion, Mrs. Pratibha Devisingh Patil said that new softwares are being developed for propagation and popularization of Hindi language. She said that Hindi is playing a vital role in preserving and protecting one thousand seven hundred dialects and languages. Mrs. Patil said that Hindi plays an important role in ensuring inclusive development in the country. The President said that the government has taken a series of measures for the promotion of Hindi language and is providing additional incentives for use of Hindi to translate technical writings.

Home Minister Mr. P. Chidambaram urged the Heads of the Department of Central government to work relentlessly for the propagation and promotion of Hindi. Minister of State for Home, Mr. Jitender Singh and M. Ramachandran were also present on the occasion.
