I&B Minister Venkaiah Naidu says Media in Country continues to be vibrant & there is no threat to freedom of press

Union Information and Broadcasting minister Venkaiah Naidu has said the media in India continues to be vibrant, enjoying the freedom as guaranteed. <br/><br/>Addressing the press in Chennai after inaugurating an exhibition "Saath Hai, Vishwaas Hai, Ho Raha, Vikaas Hai," in Chennai, he said there is no threat to the freedom of the press as accused by a section of the media in the matter of the recent CBI inquiries against the NDTV group's Mr Prannoy Roy. <br/><br/>Minister Venkaiah Naidu said the CBI action was related to a financial transaction by the media house only and added that its news room has not been searched by the officials. <br/><br/>When asked about the beef controversy, Mr Venkaiah Naidu said eating habits are personal and the Centre's restrictions are not on eating beef. He said the recent move was only to regulate the cattle trade and their transportation. He pointed out that he himself is a non-vegetarian.<br/><br/>Minister Venkaiah Naidu blamed the Congress of politicizing the farmers issue in Madhya Pradesh. He criticized the recent visit of the Congress Vice President to the state as a photo opportunity.
