Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting Mrs. Ambika Soni expressed concern over sensational news items being used by media for the sake of competition and TRP ratings. Addressing the 10th anniversary function of Hindustan Times, Chandigarh edition last night she said that there is a scope for further growth of newspapers in India. <br/><br/>Minister said that newspaper readership has grown by 6 percent during last times despite economic meltdown. Mrs. Soni said that newspapers should publish such such news items which could be kept as clippings for future references and newspapers should cover rural population. She said there are 500 channels in the country and lot of unconfirmed news is there.<br/><br/>
