I&B minister Ambika Soni hails role of AIR, Doordarshan

The Information and Broadcasting Minister, Mrs Ambika Soni has urged Prasar Bharti to make a fresh beginning in a bid to emerge as a powerful tool of disseminating information and entertainment. Speaking on a function organized by Doordarshan, Mrs. Soni while hailing the role of All India Radio and Doordarshan, said that it is important to preserve and protect their rich archives by digitalizing it and this process is on. She added an amount of 660 crore rupees has been sanctioned for the pilot project for creating a national film heritage museum and digitalization of archives.Earlier, the Chairperson of Prasar Bharti, Mrinal Pande joined the minister to release a series of CDs and DVDs , focusing on rich and varied cultural heritage of the country. She hailed the role of the two wings of Prasar Bharti and sought the cooperation of all stakeholders to seek its due place in the competing media environment. CEO Prasar Bharti Rajiv Takru, prominent theatre director Abrahim Alkazi and noted dancer, Sonal Mansingh were also present.
