Information and Broadcasting Minister Manish Tewari has described the direct cash transfer scheme through Adhaar-enabled bank accounts is an attempt to secure the future of the country. Talking to the media in New Delhi, Tewari said the scheme is in accordance with the law and will change the upcoming picture of the country. He said it is an integral part of the re-engineering process of the entire governance.

Tewari criticized the BJP for making baseless allegations that the scheme has been announced keeping 2014 general elections in view.

AIR correspondent reports, that just little over a month is left now to roll out the scheme to benefit people under 29 welfare schemes in 51 districts across the country from 1st January next year.
