IAF's Advanced Landing Ground at Arunachal's Tuting becomes operational

The Indian Air Force Advanced Landing Ground (ALG) at Tuting in Arunachal Pradesh became functional yesterday. ALG Tuting, which was inaugurated by Chief Minister Pema Khandu, will facilitate air connectivity with the rest of the country and give a fillip to tourism in the state.<br/><br/>It is the 6th operational Landing Ground in the state. After inaugurating the Advanced Landing Ground, Chief Minister Pema Khandu said it will be used for both defence and civilian purpose.With ALGs being operationalised in seven other places in the state, the Chief Minister said, it will boost regional connectivity in the state and provide further impetus to tourism industry and contribute to the local economy. The Tuting Advanced Landing Ground is under the control of Air Force Station, Jorhat in Assam.

The Indian Air Force Advanced Landing Ground, ALG at Tuting in Arunachal Pradesh has become functional from today which will facilitate air connectivity with rest of the country and give a fillip to tourism in the state. <br/><br/>The pristine and picturesque landscape of Tuting on the banks of river Siang, will become accessible to the world. The unspoilt natural beauty of the area is sure to attract many tourists, which in turn will usher in a new round of the prosperity and happiness for the local population.<br/><br/>An Air Force release said, the ALG was inaugurated by State Chief Minister Pema Khandu. Air Officer Commanding-in- Chief of Eastern Air Command Air Marshal C Hari Kumar was also present on the occasion. <br/><br/>The strategic location of Tuting ALG will make it a launching pad for the IAF operations as well as a facilitator to the Administration in the management of border area.The ALG will be used to bring in vital supplies from cities in Assam via fixed wing aircraft and helicopters besides meeting challenges during natural calamities. Commencement of civil flights operations from ALG Tuting has been proposed to Director General Civil Aviation and Airport Authority of India.
