IAF to hand over 15. 84 acres of land to AAI for expansion of Lohagaon Airport in Pune

Indian Air Force will hand over 15. 84 Acres of Land to Airport Authority of India for the Expansion of Lohagaon Airport in Pune. Decision in this respect was taken in a meeting held under chairmanship of the Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar in Pune yesterday. While talking with reporters after the meeting, Mr. Parrikar said that the land will be handed over to Airport Authority on Lease. He said that the legal procedure will be completed in due course. Defence Minister further said that for handing over this land, Data Cables are to be shifted, security barriers are to be erected, a road has to be shifted and a new compound wall is to be erected, which will take 3 to 4 months time.<br/><br/>In last two years, Air traffic from Lohagaon Airport Pune increased by 30 to 35 %. 50 to 55 % increase was recorded in Passenger traffic during this Period. Mr. Parrikar said that proposed expansion will be sufficient even if traffic records further increase of 40 to 45 %.<br/><br/>The meeting was attended by Guardian Minister for Pune Mr. Girish Bapat, Local M.P. Anil Shirole, Local MLA,s and Senior Officers from Air Force, Airport Authority and Pune Municipal Corporation.
