Flight Lt. Manish Arora has been selected for the Shaurya Chakra while Vayu Sena Medals have also been announced for three gallant Airforce Pilots. Safe recovery of a fighter jet despite sustaining critical injuries on the face after a canopy burst while cruising at near supersonic speed at an altitude of 10.5 kms earned Manish Arora the Shaurya Chakra. The incident happened n 4th February last year in a fighter base in the eastern sector. Flight Lt. Arora displayed courage, fortitude and professionalism in landing the aircraft flawlessly under extremely challenging conditions. 59 air warriors have been honoured for distinguished service and devotion to duty. Six Air Marshals are among the top IAF officers awarded with Param Vishisht Seva medal.
