The Indian Air Force is celebrating its 83 anniversary today. The main function was organised at the Hindon air base near Delhi with a large parade and air display. <br/><br/>The highlight of this year's Air Force Day was the re-constituted Surya Kiran Aerobatic Team which was showcased for the first time. <br/><br/>Sky divers of the Akash Ganga aerobatic squadron was also a prominent feature of the event.<br/><br/>The event began with a fly past of three Mi-17 V5 helicopters with ensign of the Air Force in a victory shaped formation. <br/><br/>The parade also saw Hercules formation comprising three C-130J aircraft. The fighter fly past was led by three Jaguars, closely followed by three Bisons and SU-30 aircraft. <br/><br/>Air Warrior Drill Team also displayed their alluring skills. In the grand finale Sarang Helicopter team performed their famous air display. <br/><br/>An added attraction was the Vayu Sena Band and the marching parade by officers and 253 air personnel, including women officers. <br/><br/>On the occasion, Rachna Patel, Wife of Late Squadron Leader Saurabh Raghuvanshi who was awarded Gallantry Vayu Sena Medal posthumously received the medal from Air Force Chief. <br/><br/>Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar who has been given honourary rank in the Air Force also joined the celebrations at the air base.
