<span style="color: #222222;">In Assam, the Independence Day is being celebrated across the  state with great enthusiasm. Chief Minister Sarbanand Sonowal unfurled the tricolour at Khanapara in Guwahati and also took guard of honour. On this occasion, Mr. Sonowal said that the government is committed to protect the rights of the indigenous people. He said that the steps have been taken by the Centre to grant ST status to the 6 communities of the state without curtailing the rights of those communities who are currently getting the benefits . <br />''<br />''The Chief Minister said that the government is committed for an error free NRC and also to protect the genuine citizens residing in Assam.
