Hydrological data shows Brahmaputra’s flow unaffected

Hydrological data in the last four years show that the flow in the Brahmaputra river has not receded. The analysis has been done by the Central Water Commission. Giving this information in the Lok Sabha today, Water Resources Minister Harish Rawat said projects downstream the river do not store water. Hence the Brahmaputra's flow will not be adversely affected. Mr. Rawat informed the House that China is building hydro-electric project at Zangmu in its Tibet Autonomous Region with about 510 mega watt capacity in the course of the river which originates there. The Brahmaputra and the Ganga are the main sources of water in the country, he said.
