India were 356 for 3 in their first innings against Bangladesh on the opening day of the one-off Cricket Test in Hyderabad at stumps. A 178-run stand between Murali Vijay and Cheteshwar Pujara gave a solid start to the Indian side. Skipper Virat Kohli scored a century which is his sixteenth in Test matches. Earlier, the hosts won the toss and elected to bat. Pujara today eclipsed Chandu Borde's five decades old national record of most runs by an Indian in a single season when he reached his personal score of 83. Borde had scored 1604 runs in the 1964-65 season.
