Hyderabad-based IIL plans to send first batch of Drug Substance for manufacturing Covaxin by 15th June

The Hyderabad-based Indian Immunologicals limited (IIL), a subsidiary of the National Dairy Development Board, is planning to send out the first batch of Drug Substance for manufacturing COVID -19 vaccine Covaxin of the Bharat Biotech limited by 15th of June.<br />'' <br />''IIL Managing Director Dr. K. Anand Kumar informed our correspondent that one of its manufacturing units is being converted into a BioSafety Level -3 laboratory for the same.<br />'' <br />''A technical collaboration agreement has been made between IIL, an animal vaccine Giant and Bharat Biotech, for supply of the Drug Substance for manufacturing Covaxin vaccine.<br />'' <br />''Stating that IIL will supply up to 10 million doses per month, Dr Anand Kumar said, it will be initially two to three million doses and will be scaled up to five to six million per month later in the year.<br />'' <br />''The IIL is converting its Karkapatla manufacturing unit, near Hyderabad into a BSL-3 unit and taking up construction of another block.<br />'' <br />''Dr Anand also informed that the Department of Bio-technology has sanctioned a 60 crore rupees grant for this project.<br />'' <br />''The IIL is also working on another COVID -19 vaccine.<br />'' <br />''<span style="color: #222222;">Dr Anand informed that the animal trials are underway currently for the to-be named- vaccine based on active virus platform and it is expected to come out by next year for human vaccination.</span><br />
