In Afghanistan, hundreds of people came out to protest in a northern city of Taloqan in Takhar province, against an overnight NATO raid that killed four people. Protesters said those killed were civilians and they carried the bodies of dead including two women and two men. They shouted slogans at the Afghan President and the US. At least three people were injured when police retaliated against the protesters throwing stones at police headquarters and a German military base. NATO said in a statement that it killed four militants in the operation while Takhar Governor Abdul Jabar Taqwa said no one in his government was informed about the raid and that NATO acted unilaterally. The NATO statement said the females were armed and they were targeting an Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan facilitator which acquires, and moves weapons throughout the province.
