The Human Rights Day will be observed across the globe today. This year the objective of this day is to highlight rights of all people including women, minorities, persons with Disabilities and the marginalized people as well as to make their voices heard in decision making processes.
On this day in 1948, the General Assembly of the United Nations adopted and proclaimed the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
The Declaration is recognition of dignity and the equal and inalienable rights of all members of the human community as the foundation of freedom, justice and peace in the world.
To mark the occasion, the National Human Rights Commission is organizing a programme in the national capital today for spreading more awareness on human rights.
