In Tamilnadu,in all the ten mayoral seats, eight have been captured by the AIADMK and in two they are leading with a huge margin.Saidai Duraisamy, the AIADMK mayoral candidate for Chennai has won the seat with over 5.20 lakh votes. He defeated DMK candidate Ma.Subramanian who sought re-elction for the post.Duraisamy contested the Assembly elections and had lost to DMK treasurer M.K. Stalin.Out of the 18,018 seats for various posts in the local body polls, AIADMK has won 8400, DMK 3799 and Independents 3129 seats.Reacting to the outcome of the by -election in Tiuchi,and local body polls, Tamilnadu Chief Minister Ms.Jayalalithaa in a statement said that she firmly believes that the verdict is the people’s assessment of the AIADMK government.
