In Assam, huge quantity of arms and explosives were recovered from two suspected militants near the road-cum-rail Naranarayan Setu over the river Brahmaputra in Goalpara district today. Police said on prior information, a joint team of Army and Police carried a joint search operation in the area this morning and recovered five AK-47 rifles, three hand-made grenades, two knives and some army uniforms from the two militants. The apprehended were identified but was yet to be ascertained as to which militant outfit they belonged to. The area, bordering Meghalaya, is stated to be the hide out of three militant groups including Garo National Liberation Army , National Democratic Front of Bodoland and Muslim United Liberation Tigers.
