Union Textile Minister Smriti Irani has said that there is huge possibility in textile education in Gujarat. She said, 75 per cent placement has been recorded through skill development programme in textile sector in 28 ITIs of Gujarat running the Textiles courses.<br/>Addressing in the seminar on 'trends and innovation impacting the textile value chain' at the 8th Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit today, the Minister said that two major institutes of Gujarat – NIFT and NID along with other engineering collages offer degree in textile technology, textile processing and textile engineering. <br/><br/>Ms. Irani also witnessed signing of MoU worth Rs. 8,835 crore in Textile sector during the seminar. The MoUs were signed in sectors including textile park, textile processing, machinery, carpet development, etc. The Minister said, Gujarat produces 29 per cent of total cotton production of India. It indicates the trust of textile industries in the prospect of Gujarat, she added. The Minister also ensured that her ministry will support the Textile value chain of Gujarat.
