In the latest of recent explosive hauls, the police on Sunday recovered a huge cache of explosives in Madhya Pradesh from a rented house in Gangotri Colony in Rewa. Additional SP of Rewa R S Belwanshi told AIR Bhopal correspondent that the recovered explosives included five quintal gelatin sticks, more than two bags of detonators and other material.
Mr Belwanshi said the police had got a tip off that some doubtful material has been kept in the house.
The resident of the house however managed to escape before the police raid. The Police have also recovered a huge quantity of explosives from his car, which was parked in the outskirts of the city. The Police have arrested two persons in this case. They included owner of the house and driver of the recovered car.
AIR correspondent reports investigations are on and the police are on the look out for the resident of the rented house where the explosives were found.
According to PTI, a senior Home Ministry official said in Delhi that the gelatine sticks, detonators and chords recovered seemed to be for the purpose of illegal mining and added that there was no terror angle. He added that the Union Home Secretary R K Singh has spoken to the state Chief Secretary and DGP and have sought a detailed report.
