The Housing and Urban Development Corporation, HUDCO, is considering a proposal to provide funding of upto 700 crore rupees for the construction of the Kochi Metro project. Chairman and Managing Director of HUDCO, Mr V P Baligar told reporters in New Delhi that a proposal has come from Kochi Metro Project for funding and thinking to provide 700 crore rupees. They have asked 1200 crores rupees.Kochi metro project is expected to cost over 5000 rupees crore and would have 22 metro stations.Mr Baligar said that earlier HUDCO had contributed in the financing of Bangalore Metro and had also given an in principle approval to the funding of Jaipur Metro. He said that HUDCO could fund Delhi Metro's expansion to Gurgaon or Noida if the authorities needed financial assistance. Mr Baligar said that HUDCO was also planning to get equity in the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor.
