India's H. S. Pranoy went down against Taiwan's Cou Tien-Chen in a gruelling encounter in the quarter-finals of the Japan Open Badminton tournament by 17-21, 21-15, 20-22.  Prannoy made a comeback in the final game, but it was not enough.
