HRIDAY to improve core heritage sites

Urban Development Ministry has approved projects worth 114 crore rupees under Heritage Infrastructure Development and Augmentation Yojana (HRIDAY) for improving infrastructure facilities in five cities. <br/><br/>The cities are Varanasi, Amritsar, Dwaraka, Puri and Warangal. Urban Development Minister Venkaiah Naidu has directed the officials of the Ministry and concerned State Governments to ensure implementation of the approved projects by March next year. <br/><br/>HRIDAY is a Central Scheme for which Central Assistance of 500 crore rupees been provisioned till March,2017. Twelve cities have been included in this mission. <br/><br/>An investment of around 13 crore rupees has been approved for Varanasi for developing a Heritage Walk around Kabir Chaura and Piplani Katra. For Amritsar, nine heritage infrastructure related projects have been approved for implementation with a total investment of 57 crore rupees. <br/><br/>In Puri, five projects with an investment of about 17 crore rupees will be undertaken for revitalization of different heritage zones. The Fort of Warangal in Telangana State will be revived and developed with necessary interventions with around 15 crore rupees under HRIDAY.<br/><br/> In Dwaraka, Gujarat, Dwarakadhish Temple Square will be developed at a cost of around 2.75 crore rupees.
