Union Human Resource Development Ministry will further strengthen the research and development works in National Institutes of Technology (NITs). <br/><br/>This was decided at annual meeting of Council of National Institutes of Technology, Science Education and Research held in Shimla yesterday. The meeting was chaired by Union Human Resource Development Minister Prakash Javadekar. The heads from 32 institutes in different states participated in this meeting.<br/> <br/>Later giving details of the meeting Mr Javadekar said that 200 crore rupees have been earmarked for research and development works. Besides setting up of Research Parks, more fellowships will be provided and innovation centre would be set up in NITs with this budget, he added.<br/><br/> He said it has been decided to fill up all the vacancies in NITs soon and the selection process of teachers will also be changed. Mr Javadekar expressed hope that these steps will help in increasing NIT education the level further. <br/><br/>Mr Javadekar said the government has no plan to open new NITs as of now as the centre had already opened six IITs and seven AIIMS in the country.<br/><br/>
