HRD Ministry has not issued instructions to increase fees in Central Varsities: Govt

<span style="color: #222222;">Union Government has said that the Human Resource Development Ministry has not issued instructions to increase the fees in Central Universities. In a written reply in the Lok Sabha today, HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank said, so far as Indian Institutes of Technology, IIT's are concerned, the revision of tuition fees for undergraduate programme of IITs was made on 8th April 2016 to further strengthen them. </span><br />''<br />''He said, to protect the interests of the socially and economically backward students, the government had made some provisions which include complete fee waiver for Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribes and Physically Handicapped students. <br />''<br />''<span style="color: #222222;">Mr Nishank said all students shall have access to interest-free loan under the Vidyalaxmi Scheme for the total portion of the tuition fees payable.</span><br />
