HRD Ministry clarifies IITs are exempted from filing returns

Ministry of Human Resources Development has clarified that institutions like IITs are exempted from filing returns as they are covered under the annual Government Audit. The clarification came in response to media reports about non submission of annual statement of returns on FCRA by central educational institutions. <br/><br/>The Ministry said, the Statutory Bodies created or established under the Central or State Act required to have their accounts compulsorily audited by the Comptroller and Auditor General of India and are exempted from the operation of the provisions of the FCRA Act, 2010. <br/><br/>It said, IIT Delhi has informed that returns are being filed after the completion of Audit of the Institutions and the filing of return is regular under the FCRA Registration. <br/> <br/>IIT Delhi has also not received any information or notice about non filing of return or any other compliance pending.
