A month long campaigning for the 12th assembly elections in Himachal Pradesh has come to an end today. The polling will be held on Sunday the November 4th and results will be declared on December 20th.
Although the main contest is between Congress and Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) but above 30 rebel candidates from both the parties and 105 Independents can make a dent in their vote bank. , A break away group of BJP ,CPI (M) and CPI having a total of 57 candidates cannot be ignored. There is multi-cornered contest in most of the 68 assembly constituencies.
Polling teams have already started moving to polling booths situated at far off areas in the state. For the protection of 7,252 polling booths including 2,019 sensitive and hyper-sensitive, adequate security arrangements have been made. Sixty companies of para-military forces along with state police and surveillance teams are keeping a strict vigil to conduct free and fair elections in a transparent manner.
