In Himachal Pradesh, the Election Commission has ordered removal of Deputy Commissioner of Kullu and Superintendent of Police, Baddi for the election period on complaints lodged by different political parties. The Commission has also ordered the state government to stop immediately distributing carry bags from PDS shops exhibiting the photograph of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpaee. The Chief Election Commissioner V.S.Sampat along with other senior officers held talks in Shimla today with representatives of political parties and civil and police officials of the state government. Speaking at a press conference later, Mr. Sampat expressed satisfaction over the preparation for the conduct of free and fair election to the state assembly. The election to the 68 member assembly is to be held on 4th of next month.
