Himachal Pradesh police have seized more than 2.22 crore rupees cash from various persons across the state till last evening in the run to assembly elections. A total of 272 persons had been arrested and 230 cases had been registered under various acts till now.Quoting Himachal Pradesh Election Commission's report, Our Correspondent reports that out of the total amount more than 63 lakh has been released to concerned persons after verifying facts. Remaining 1.59 crore rupees has been deposited in treasury. EC had already made it clear that people carrying cash of over 2.5 lakh rupees need to carry documentary evidence, in most seizure cases, people have failed to show documents leading to suspicion that the money was meant to be used for election campaign. About 2.72 lakh ml of illicit, country made and English liquor has been seized from different parts of the state besides some poppy straws and charas so far.
