In Himachal Pradesh, the 1000 MW Karchan Wangtoo Hydro electricity project in Kinnaur has started generating more than 550 MW electricity. Our correspondent reports, this will be beneficial for the states of Punjab, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh as 80% of the power generated will be sold to these states.Our AIR correspondent repots that, With the commissioning of two power plants the karcham Wangtoo hydro electricity project the Himachal Pradesh power production has gone upto 7100 MW. The karcham wangtoo is producing more than 550 MW power now a days which is likely to increase upto 1200 MW by 15th august which will be 200 MW more than its capacity. The karcham wangtoo was allocated to JP group in 2003 at the run of satluj river with the estimated cost of around 7000 crores. With the commissioning of project this will not only help the nation to achieve goal of power for all by 2012 inch which India needs to install additional 100000 MW power generation but will also himachal will be getting 12% royalty from the projects earning .
