Both the Houses of Parliament have been adjourned, the Lok Sabha till noon and the Rajya Sabha for 15 minutes over the missing files relating to coal block allocations. Opposition members demanded a statement from the Prime Minister on the issue.
As soon the Lok Sabha assembled, the BJP members supported by others, raised the issue and rushed into the well of the House. Members from Andhra Pradesh trooped into the well in support of their demand for United Andhra Pradesh.
The Rajya Sabha witnessed an unprecedented uproar over the missing files issue with the treasury members clashing with the opposition. The issue was raised by Ravi Shankar Prasad of the BJP. He was supported by Dr V Maitreyan of the AIADMK. Ram Gopal Yadav of the Samajwadi Party demanded the Prime Minister’s response on the rupee devaluation.
Later the Leader of the Opposition, Arun Jaitley said, the opposition was not satisfied with Coal Minister Sriprakash Jaiswal’s statement on Tuesday on the missing files relating to coal block allocations. He said the opposition has been insisting on the Prime Minister’s intervention. He said, since Dr Manmohan Singh is in the House, he should clarify the position. Responding to this, Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Rajiv Shukla suggested that members can seek clarifications on the missing files and the Prime Minister can intervene if required.Thereafter, the House took up questions.
