Both the Houses of Parliament were adjourned till 2 pm today on different issues. As soon as the Lok Sabha reassembled at noon, BJP members once again raised slogans against a businessman for his alleged involvement in the land deals in Harayana. Treasury bench members countered the opposition slogans. Amidst noisy scenes, Presiding Officer Francisco Sardinha, adjourned the House after tabling the papers listed for the day.
The Rajya Sabha also witnessed uproar with BJP members taking strong exception to the remarks made by Chairman Mohammed Hamid Ansari in the morning. Raising the issue, Leader of Opposition Arun Jaitley said the Chair has over-reacted. He said the remark is
unparliamentary. His party colleague Ravi Shankar Prasad said the Chair should withdraw the remarks. Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Rajiv Shukla suggested that the remarks be expunged. Deputy Chairman Prof. P J Kurien said that he will convey the views of the members.
The Rajya Sabha was adjourned for the third time till 2 pm as BJP members continued to insist for a discussion on a businessman who is allegedly involved in the land deals in Haryana. Deputy Chairman, Prof. P.J.Kurien called for taking up zero hour mentions amidst slogan shouting by BJP members. Congress members also countered the slogans before the House was adjourned.
Both the Houses of Parliamnet have since resumed business.
