House Committee Report recommends disqualification of MLAs

In Karnataka, the House Committee Report on the uproar and pandemonium in the Assembly when Yeddyurappa sought majority on October 11th has recommended disqualification of four MLAs for one year and disqualification of another 11 MLAs for a period of six months. The Committee report states that these members from Congress and JD(S) have lowered the dignity of the House by showing disrespect to the Speaker’s chair. Meanwhile, a Congress MLA Dr.Sharan Prakash Patil, has moved Privilege Motion in the Legislative Assembly today against leak of House Committee Report. The House Committee headed by BJP MLA Appacchu Ranjan was scheduled to place the report before the Assembly today but today’s newspapers already carried the content of the report. The Speaker K G Boppaiah has accepted the motion and assured the Opposition that the leak of report to the media will be referred to the Privilege committee.The dharna and walkout by the opposition continued in both the Houses of Legislature. The House Committee Report was also later tabled in the House before it adjourned till afternoon.
