Hotline between Indian and Chinese PMs to be set up soon

India and China will take urgent steps to establish a hot-line connection between the Prime Ministers for effective communication on bilateral issues. Official sources said, it will be ready soon. On the issue of dam construction, it was clarified that China is building run of the river dam on its side of Brahmaputra, but is not violating any agreement with India. Chinese premier Wen Jiabao has shown keen interest in meeting Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on the sidelines of the ASEAN summit in Thailand next week. He indicated his interest to Petroleum Minister Murli Deora who met the Chinese leader during his visit to Beijing to attend a Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) meet on Wednesday.<br/><br/>Meanwhile, China today said it wanted cordial relations with India but there are some historical leftover issues between the two countries. This was stated by Chinese Ambassador Zhang Yan in a meeting with BJP President Mr. Rajnath Singh in New Delhi today. Mr. Singh conveyed his concerns over Chinese objection to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's visit to Arunachal Pradesh, saying it was unfair. He also told the envoy that mutual confidence had been dented by the recent incursions.
