The Hot Line between the Prime Ministers of India and China has been operationalised. Disclosing this, the Foreign Secretary Mrs. Nirupama Rao said that the hotline became operational 3 to 4 days ago. She said that the technical people have been working on it for some time. The agreement to set up a Hot Line was signed between the External Affairs Minister Mr. S. M. Krishna and his Chinese counterpart Mr. Yang Jiechi in April. The agreement on the Hot Line was a confidence building measure to open a direct channel of communication between leaders of the two countries.
