Earlier, opting to bat, Australia had posted 385 in the first innings. England were, then, bundled out for 251. Australia, with a lead of 134 runs, had scored 369 in the second innings, giving England a mammoth 504 to chase. Australia had won the first test at Brisbane by 381 runs and second test at Adelaide by 218 runs. The fourth test of the 5-match series will be played from the 26th of this month at Melbourne. The test series will be followed by a 5-match ODI and a 3-game Twenty-20 series.
