Hostage crisis continues in Pakistan

In Pakistan, authorities continued on Monday to negotiate a resolution to the overnight hostage crisis at a counter-terrorism police detention centre in the Bannu district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.<br />'' <br />'' According to officials, a group of terrorists have taken multiple officers hostage demanding safe passage to neighbouring Afghanistan in exchange for their lives.<br />'' <br />'' The ongoing siege has reportedly left at least two policemen dead and several others injured, including an army officer.<br />'' <br />'' The casualties occurred during clashes with the hostage takers when security forces attempted to retake control of the facilities, shortly after the siege had begun.<br />'' <br />'' Authorities said a group of detainees were being interrogated in connection with incidents of terrorism when some of them managed to grab weapons from security guards before freeing an unspecified number of high-profile terrorists from another detention cell.<br />'' <br />''The terrorist group Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan, also known as the Pakistani Taliban claimed responsibility for the siege on Monday.
