Tight security is in place in the Egyptian capital Cairo where the former President Hosni Mubarak is due to go on trial today. 3000 police would protect the building in Cairo where a temporary quarter has been constructed. Egypt's military rulers have been making major preparations for the trial of their former commander. But so far Hosni Mubarak has not left the hospital in the resort of Sharm al-Sheik where he is being detained since he was arrested several months ago. His lawyers insist he is seriously ill claiming at one point he was in a coma. Many Egyptians are sceptical. They say the military do not want to see the former President humiliated. If Hosni Mubarak does not appear in court, there could well be serious confrontations on the streets.
