In Egypt, former president Hosni Mubarak and his family have been banned from leaving Egypt and their assets have been frozen. Egypt's official media Al Ahram reported that the prosecutor General Abdel Meguid Mahmoud has announced this. Al ahram quoting military sources has reported that that the former president's son, Gamal Mubarak, tried to leave the country on a private jet yesterday. He was thwarted from doing so by the military. The criminal charges are also being brought by the court against Mubarak's family.Meanwhile Hosni Mubarak was fired from his post as chairman of the erstwhile ruling National Democratic Party, with the party's senior officials deciding to appoint a new one within few days.
